The Importance of Meditation. Why you should consider meditation retreat as part of your healthcare.
Serif Sisman is the founder and CEO of VIVAVOYA. He is an astute businessman, a healthy-living advocate, and an avid mediator

I’ve spent my whole life working to be somebody that is ego driven — I was motivated by money, social status, and professional achievements, and largely I was successful. But I was not happy, and I definitely was not healthy. Fast-forward 10 years and I can confidently say that I am not the same person.
“According to a study by the universities of Coventry and Radboud, mind-body interventions (MBIs) such as meditation, yoga and Tai Chi don’t just relax us; they can also ‘reverse’ the molecular reactions in our DNA which cause ill-health and depression.”
Meditation has played a pivotal role in transforming my life and helping me let go of my ego. I first started dabbling in guided meditations when it was trendy and I was curious, but I had no idea what I was doing! However, I did enjoy the sense of inner peace and well-being that meditation seemed to provide me so I continued to explore it until I was introduced to a progressive researcher and educator who was able to give me a scientific perspective on something that was otherwise considered esoteric and maybe even slightly hippy.
This meditation master specializes in change and transformation. In fact, many of the people on his retreats find their way there because they have reached the end of the line in treating a chronic health condition through traditional medicine, while others (like myself) have mental barriers and inner-conflicts to overcome. He is also different from other self-help gurus and life coaches, which I like because:
His teachings are practical.
He is authentic and caring.
He uses scientific research to support his practices and teaching.
After submerging myself in this unique philosophy through his books, I finally took the plunge and embarked on one of his 7-day retreats. This was exactly the push that I needed to shed everything that I had built up so that I could be free, authentic, and liberated. I have now just returned from my third retreat with him and can safely say that each and every one has offered me something unique and special when I have needed it most.
Booking your own retreat
Whose it for?
Anyone! But especially those that come with the intention of change because they allow all possibilities to take place.
Whose it not for?
Those who insist on bringing along any emotional baggage or who plan on running their own subconscious programs. In fact, if you think you may be one of these people, I would strongly encourage you to rethink your participation as you don’t want to disrupt others’ energies and healing experiences.
What can you expect?
Meditation is a profoundly personal experience and everyone reacts differently. My first retreat left me feeling exhausted, yet great (I even developed flu-like symptoms and I struggled to eat), but during my second retreat, I felt energized, alive, and focused. It’s important to remember to trust the process and trust yourself so that your body can heal and respond in whatever way it needs to.
How should you prepare?
Familiarize yourself with the basic meditation principles, read a few meditation books, and if you’ve never meditated before, definitely try a few guided meditations to ensure that this is the right fit for you.
